Remember the makeover I told you about in our first post . Well the best makeovers also come with new clothes! Read through Colossians 3.
Makeover My Mind
Paul talks about the new life, how it has completely changes us. He talks about how we need to regular set our minds to this new life.
Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God.
New Clothes
Obviously (and sadly) we don't get a new wardrobe and fresh kicks when we are saved but Paul does use the language of clothing. He talks about putting off one set of clothes and being clothed instead in his Kingdom values. Remember the story of the lost son? When he returns - the Father clothes him in new clothes. These are specifically robes that identify him as 'son' and not 'slave'. We are now our Fathers children - we are clothes in his family robes!
New Rules
"I got new rules I count 'em"
It is absolutely true what you hear, that Christianity is not about 'rules', but it is about a ruler (or a sovereign). We have a new King, we follow him but we follow Him because his love compels us to! As we do this His peace rules in our heart!
This new King knows what is good for us (he made us) so we are encouraged to 'be thankful' - the world is now seeing gratitude is good for our well being! Stick with the word and find a worship community where you can grow.
Let the Word of Christ—the Message—have the run of the house. Give it plenty of room in your lives. Instruct and direct one another using good common sense. And sing, sing your hearts out to God! Let every detail in your lives—words, actions, whatever—be done in the name of the Master, Jesus, thanking God the Father every step of the way.
Be Humble
It's not exactly glamorous to be humble but as you go through this year at school - whatever hardships or celebrations you face remember this; it's all for him
Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.
